Plain or micro-serrated
The straight shear is the one you reach for most and notice least. That only happens if the edge holds and the balance is right.
Harzly straights come in VG-10 with a plain convex edge, or JP440C with a micro-serrated edge that grips slippery or silky coat instead of pushing it ahead of the blade.

Which length?
7.0" for detail and smaller dogs, 7.5" as an all-rounder, 8.0" for body lines on larger breeds.
